More Police Officers In Basildon, Wickford and Billericay Town Centres

Essex Police have announced that there are to be EIGHT more officers added to the Town Centre Teams in Basildon, Billericay and Wickford.

Since Monday 22 July, Sergeant Paul Hogben has been leading the four officers assigned to Basildon, a pair in Wickford and another two in Billericay. They are all experienced officers with a great knowledge of these local areas.

Reducing Crime in Basildon, Billericay and Wickford

These new teams will be focused on community issues in the town centres. Things like crimes against local businesses, antisocial behaviour and ensuring licensing agreements are adhered to by clubs, restaurants and pubs.

Providing a visible presence will increase their ability to prevent crime through early intervention with suspected offenders.

It’s all part of an initiative by Essex Police which will see 58 Town Centre Team constables assigned across the county. This includes five more officers in Southend and others in Thurrock, Grays and South Ockendon.
