Thurrock, Grays, South Ockendon and Stanford-le-Hope Get More Town Centre Police

Since Monday 22 July 2019, Essex Police have been investing in more officers across 23 town centres in the county to ‘deal with issues on your doorstep’. And Thurrock is included!

This means there will be SEVEN more officers dedicated to policing local town centres, led by Sergeant Ben Forbes. Three will be in Grays, two in Stanford-le-Hope and two in South Ockendon.

District commander for Thurrock, Chief Inspector Claire Talbot, said:

“By having more officers, we’ll be able to continue the good work of our Community Policing Team, and be able to get to really understand any issues in these three communities. We want to make sure we hear from the people who see these towns as somewhere to live, work, or visit, so that we can work together to make Grays, South Ockendon and Stanford safer.”

More visible patrols and engagement will allow the Police to work towards reducing anti-social behaviour and violent crime in the towns. The goal is to maintain the successful night time economy of bars, restaurants and clubs in the Thurrock area.

Keeping your Thurrock home secure

It’s great that it is safer than ever to visit pubs, clubs and restaurants in Thurrock, Grays, South Ockendon and Stanford-le-Hope. But who’s watching your home whilst you’re out? Police can’t be everywhere!

It might well be someone unpleasant. Especially if you ‘check in’ on social media and tell everyone? Or put up hilarious posts of your antics – complete with real time photographs.

Along with not telling everyone on Facebook that you’re out, the best way to keep your home safe is to invest in a home alarm and CCTV system.

Add monitoring and you know someone is keeping an eye on your property 24/7. Better still, an alarm system that has been installed and maintained by Eastern Security will qualify you to get a Police Response if someone is breaking into your home!
