Tennis Star Injured During Home Burglary
A blog post from December 2016 but one which still holds true today.
Following on from the robbery involving Kim Kardashian, the importance of home security was highlighted again this week as news broke that tennis world #2, Petra Kvitova, had been attacked in her home in the Czech Republic.
In what has been described as “a random criminal act”, the local Police have said that the intruder entered her apartment at about 8.30 in the morning using a “ruse”. He stole some cash and ran off.
During the burglary, Miss Kvitova sustained injuries to her left hand – the one she plays with. Whilst her agent has said that these are not life threatening, she explained on Twitter that it was severe and she is fortunate to be alive. She went on to say that she will need some specialist surgery. It is thought that she will be unable to play for several months.
Details of the exact nature of the ‘ruse’ have not been revealed but it’s worth noting that video/intercom door entry systems can allow home owners in flats or houses to get more details about a caller before deciding whether or not you should open the door.
